This excursion is ideal to visit some of the most appealing areas of our volcano. Ideal for travellers who want to discover the hidden paths, endemic vegetation and breathtaking landscapes at middle altitude on the wild flanks of Etna equipped with helmets and flash-light. We will continue trekking among old sleeping craters. This hike allows you to discover several of the lateral craters and cold lava flows from recent and ancient eruptions of the volcano, covering altitudes between 18oom and 2100m on foot.
What the tour includes
The tour includes a guided tour of one of the best local wineries to enchant you with the taste of a rich bodied local wine accompanied by a tasting of typical local products . A guided tour of the wineries is included. An expert vine grower will eagerly share his knowledge and the secrets that give life to a full-bodied wine.
Easy-Intermediate hikes can be taken by most people in good health, families with active lifestyles and by children who are used to the outdoors.
Intermediate trails are best suited for people who are in good physical conditions and fit, with
some hiking experience and who can handle higher altitudes.
Hard trails are dedicated to people with a high fitness level that have done similar hikes before
and who can handle long ascents, high altitude and prolonged exercise.
Required equipment: Hiking shoes (can be rented), 1L water, snowshoes (only in winter, for rent)
Recommended equipment: Long trousers, backpack, wind/rain jacket (can be rented), fleece and gloves (cold season only), hiking sticks (optional, provided), cap, sunscreen, snack.

The Tour includes:

– Van with driver-
– Helmet and flash-light and trekking poles
– Visit to an Etna winery with a tasting of 3 glasses of Etna Doc wine, a dish of typical products (cured meats, cheeses, bruschetta, vegetables) and a typical Sicilian pasta dish.
– Pick up and return to Catania Centro or Taormina.

All the hikes that reach middle or high altitude and the active craters can be limited by volcanic
activity, temporary restrictions, harsh weather, snow/ice coverage or other major inconveniences.
In these cases a variation will be offered or the tour might be canceled.
Instead, if the hike or tour is cancelled by the participant, our cancellation policy is the following:
- No fee until 48 hours before the trip
- 50% cancellation fee until 24 hours before the trip
- 100% cancellation fee on the day of the trip
Our hikes and tours start from meeting points that can be comfortably reached by road. The meeting times and locations are different with different tour options and throughout the year.
These will be confirmed when booking each hike.
Hikes at middle and high altitude are not suited for people suffering from cardio-circulatory or breathing conditions. Other physical conditions must be disclosed before choosing the excursion.

Cancellation and Refund Policy:
For cancellations made up to 7 days before the tour date, there is no penalty and the full ticket price will be refunded. For cancellations made from 6 to 2 days before the tour date, 50% of the ticket price will be retained. For cancellations made the day before the tour date or no-shows, the full ticket price will be retained.
