In Passopisciaro, tiny village on the northern side of Etna volcano, which has a long wine history, is located Calcagno’s Winery, which lives on its grape harvests and on its volcano presence.
For five generations, handed down from father to son, Calcagno’s Family carries on an old wine-making tradition, in order to give to its wines the flavor of the places where they are produced and also to provide them the energy and the colours of this large volcano, testable in every sip.
The vineyards, in Contrada Arcuria and Feudo di Mezzo, at 650 meters above sea level, were planted on small and meandering terraces during the first years of last century. They keep on growing thanks to the work of human hands and finding place in a hard yet generous nature.
It comes out that Calcagno’s Wines offer a unique sensorial experience, let discover the intense essences of a little part of Sicily.
The scientific research is a fundamental and crucial aspect for the Calcagno’s Winery. Wine-growing theories and methods are tested, aiming for the achievement of high quality levels.
Three are the main points at the heart of its philosophy: man passion, genuineness and poignant wines, territory enhancement.
